January 2019 - TEHA Board Meeting

From Carol Kohut, TEHA President:

Hi, sub!

The officers met at my home last night and we worked out a budget and a list of dates for the 2019 events. The events are as follows and the annual sub wide meeting is set for either February 27 or March 27, as that date has not been firmly set.

The board hopes that residents will attend and bring ideas to the meeting about beautification, safety, whatever issues you feel significant.

  • The Easter egg hunt will be Saturday, April 13 at 12 noon to 1 pm.

  • The garage sale will be scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18.

  • Our ice cream social will be Sunday, September 15 from 12 noon to 3 PM.

  • The Halloween parade will, of course, be on Halloween, October 31 which is a Thursday this year. We will start promptly at 5 PM.

  • The holiday lights judging will occur the week of December 16 depending on the schedule of our two judges.

During the ice cream social held last year, one resident had the idea of a progressive dinner here in the sub. As the officers discussed it last night, we thought that a dinner would be a lovely idea, but felt an easily-accessible location in the sub with a tent and potluck food would be a better option. The rental tent and tables will be large enough for a number of people to gather food and eat comfortably. The location will be a large property on Edgemont which is fenced in and very easily accessible. We will be forming a committee to plan this dinner which will be held sometime during the summer. More on this later.

The board also discussed more beautification efforts and Dick Aubuchon (Sparrow) has agreed to head up this committee. We talked about adding an organic fertilizer to our two entranceway islands, along with some flowers to hide the boulders covering the sprinkling system gears on each island.

We also talked about reducing the visibility of the solar panels on the islands.

Discussion about the recent driveway car break-ins resulted in a caution to everyone to make sure that any vehicles parked in driveways or on streets be LOCKED. Also we encourage that everyone keep porch lights on all night and install driveway lights that are kept on all night. Another option would be motion sensor battery operated lights that can be installed on each side of the garage. I have two of these myself and they light up like a Christmas tree anytime someone approaches my driveway. Police will tell you that thieves do not like to be anywhere near bright lights.

Please be sure to access our website at www.troyestates.com to learn the latest updates. A list of the events are posted there as well. The board also discussed our 2019 budget which will be posted on the website within a few days.

Keep warm! Carol
